Outside Reading 2

For this blog i read pages 103-155. And in these chapters the book is still told from Lila's point of view, and her mother is still trying to cope with the death of her two sons, she says that until the the mujahideen (Afghanistan's sovereignty) won the war that her sons wont rest in peace. In 1992 the jihad was over the mujahideen had won and Lila's mother started being a normal mother again cooking cleaning and being happy again so basically in this pages they are having neighbors over to they're house to celebrate the victory. The events that happened in these pages didn't really relate with me because i never lost anyone in a war. But it connects to the Americans that did, sure the celebrations might be different from apple pies to rice, but its still the same family and friends get together to celebrate. But in the book this made the mother's character come into play she went from a miserable women that didn't care about anything not even about her own daughter to a very happy and caring person. These pages also help the reader realize how something such as a war can break a family and then build it back up, it also shows the grief, terrible and horrific events it can bring.

Outside Reading Blog 1

I’m reading "A thousand splendid suns" and I read pages 113-138. In the pages i read the book switched main characters from Mariam which the book started out with to now Lalia her next door neighbor’s daughter. Lalia is 9yrs old and she already has a bunch of tasks to accomplish each day, "Lalia washed Mammy's dresses and changed her sheets. She coaxed her out of bed for baths and meals. She was the one who ironed Babi's shirts and folded his pants. Increasingly, she was the cook". Not only does Lalia have to clean and cook she has to go to school on top of all that, but Lalia's father influences her with her studies. Lalia's mother is going through a rough due to losing her only two sons to the war. When I was 9 all I had to do was barley clean my room and go to school I never thought of cleaning my entire house and cooking for my whole family, I’m 15 and that still seems like pretty though task but I guess she was born into it so its kind of a job. My book is basically about women and there rights and that was a great example of women's struggle.

Global issues are narrowed down to two things in the u.s. global warming and the iraq war. The u.s is responsible for both issues. America is the leading country with the most waste, and they started war with iraq over "guns" that bush sr. sold to them. None of these issues seem to be coming to an end golbal warming just keeps getting worser, and is predicted to kill the plant. And the war is just getting more into unkown terroritorty.

Holidays are single handedly the most brilliant invention that was ever invented. Every kid loves holidays no one in there right minds hate it. Grown Folks get off work to spend time with there kids and kids get out of the worst thing in the world (school). Some holidays lead up to speical events like christmas for example. Everyone loves christmas and everyone is in a joyful mood. Holidays agood for families because they bring families together. The thing about holidays are there are bunch of differnet ones for different religions. i never ran across a holiday where everyone in the world celebrated which is weird. The thing that i dont understand about holidays are the ones that dont make sense like st. patricks day??

Bollywood the indian version of hollywood. bollywood is an interesting aspect of the film making culture. Bollywood movies i learned are longer then any usual hollywood movies. i think bollywood movies are way to too cheesy. i find intresting movies to have a sickening plot or funny movies that are just nonstop laughter. I just don't like the singing and dancing. Bollywood is decent i dont really hate it but still. My question i have about bollywood movies are how much do the actors get paid? Bollywood movies remined me of chick flicks. The only plus out of bollywood movies are some girls are banging hot.

Culture is everywhere and in everything this article shows just some of the types of culture there are everywhere. i see culture as the most peroiucs thing passed down from generation to generation. culture is the food we eat, the music you listen to, the place of worship you go to, the community or area you grew up in. I love all types of culture. I love eating food nothing i love doing more and i also love the thrill of trying new food i got that from my father. I like learning and hearing about new cultures and i got that from my mother. Culture is what makes the world go round. it is always interesting to view another culture other then ours.
